Mersey Multimodal Gateway (3MG)

3MG Multimodal Gateway is a unique logistics development and represents an opportunity for developers and end users to create bespoke and flexible warehousing solutions, taking advantage of the excellent links to the UK transport network.

There is currently 530,000 sq ft of existing warehouse space, with consent to build a total of 2.2m sq ft of new buildings. Consent was also granted in 2013 for the construction of a 20Mw biomass power plant, further enhancing the 3MG by providing incoming tenants with the ability to reduce their annual consumption through access to the onsite biomass facility.

Stobart Ports Weston Site

The Liverpool City Region is home to a strong and vibrant maritime cluster of strategic importance centred around the Mersey Ports and shipyards.

Port of Weston Runcorn, is a waterway port in close proximity to the mouth of the Manchester Ship Canal. Wirral International Business Park

Mersey Waters is actually split into two zones that sit on both sides of the River Mersey, running approximately a mile up the waterfront from the Liver Building and covering Peel’s Liverpool Waters development. The second zone covers the inland Wirral waterway and the future Wirral Waters development.

Enterprise zones were designated by the government to encourage investment and development in certain areas through a number of incentives:

  • Business Rate discount per company of approximately £275,000 over a five year period
  • The retention, for at least 25 years, of the Business Rate growth from the Zone in order to support the relevant local enterprise partnership’s economic priorities
  • Radically simplified planning, for example, through the use of Local Development Orders
  • Government support to ensure that superfast broadband is rolled out throughout each Zone
